“Night of the Pencils”
   On 16 September 1976, 10 Argentine high-school students were abducted from their homes by security forces. Labeled subversive for having signed a joint petition in favor of student-rate bus fares, the students were taken to secret detention centers and tortured. Three of the students were eventually released; the rest remain among the missing (desaparecidos).
